Hair Accessories for the Wedding

After selecting your hairstyle based on your facial shape, gown, your
theme, your location and season, the next thing to consider are your
hair accessories. You can use your gown for inspiration or you can
completely deviate from the design of your gown like Carrie Bradshaw did
on Sex and the City, where she put a blue bird on her hair to make a
fashion statement. If you are less of a Carrie Bradshaw and more
conservative, you can always opt for the conventional hair accessories
like tiaras, veils, diamond studs, bejewelled combs or even flowers.
The most important part of the hair accessories is to add glitter to
your already radiant presence on your wedding day therefore; the key is
to not go overboard. After all you would not want everyone staring at
your hair instead of your glowing face.
A very popular hair style is the bejewelled hairstyle that entails
bright pieces that you can embed on your hair so that your hair can
literally sparkle as yo u walk under the lights as you walk down the
aisle and as you move to your first dance during your reception. The key
is to find the right jewels to place on the hair. If you want the
medieval look, a strand of jewelled pieces wrapped around a part of your
hair will help you polish the look you are going for. If you want to
look like a princess like the late Lady Diana did on her wedding day
then go for a tiara. If it is real and an heirloom then good for you,
but if you do not have an authentic one, you can always get a faux
tiara, nobody will be able to tell on the day itself. If you are not
used to wearing hair accessories, you can opt for the subtle beads of
jewels that can be attached to the hair. It will give you the subtle
sparkle you want on your wedding day. If you want to give off the old
romance vibe, you can go for a bejewelled comb that you can place on top
of your bun or even on your short hair. Whichever bejewelled accessory
you choose, be it tiara, beads of jewels, bejewelled comb or diamond
studs make sure you do not go overboard. The key is as always,
moderation.
Another fad that is coming back is putting flowers on the hair.
Jennifer Garner put some small flowers on her bun when she married Ben
Affleck but the flowers that are coming out now are big. They use a big
flower and position the flower at the back of the ear of the bride or at
any part of the back of her hair. If you think you can do this and still
be confident on your day, then by all means try it out. This look will
be beautiful in a beach wedding or a garden wedding. The flower makes
the look of the bride more relaxed and so the perfect gown for this is
an unstructured wedding gown. A new accessory is a headband for the
hair of the brides, these are thick bands that match the gown design of
the bride. This looks very chic on people with curly hair or layered
hair. If you have thin or straight hair, you can opt for thin head bands
so that the band will not be too big for your hair.
You can always opt for the traditional veil. There are different
types of veils like cathedral veil, chapel length veil, ballet length
veil, finger tip veil The cathedral veil is at least 12 inches beyond
the end of the train of the gown. Ballet Length veil extends down to the
ankle and never touches the floor. The finger tip veil just extends up
to the finger tip of the bride. This design flatters and gown style. The
veil may be piped or it may just be tulle or it may also be studded with
crystals.
Of course, you can always go au natural and not use any hair bling,
this is after all your wedding day. |
